Ladies and gentlemen,
There comes a time and place in every “renter’s” life when they encounter that “neighbor from hell” and let me just say that tonight was that night! There I was, sitting and working on a few things on my Mac and listening to my music (311 to be exact) when a *thundering* knock came upon my front-door. My “next-door neighbor” came over in a tirade, yelling, mind you, at the top of his lungs that *my* music was too loud… I sat there for a moment, thinking to myself, what is worse? The person who’s music is too loud, or the person that is yelling at the top of their lungs that the other’s music is too loud?
He proceeded to chastise me, stating that I *always* have my music too loud, and I *blast* my music on Sunday mornings… that may be the case, and on Sundays, I do, in fact, like my Jazz at a reasonable decibel level, but nothing like what he was claiming! I mean seriously!
So, there he stood, in his wife-beater and tattered blue jeans, yelling at me that my music was *too loud* in a totally “out-of-line” manner. Normally, most people would respectfully request that the music volume be minimized, but he was yelling louder than my muysic ever was… Kind of a paradox, don’t you think? And then to make matters worse, he threatened me, with his fist. Well, at this point I could see that he was, in fact, totally insane, and I saw no point in continuing the conversation with a deranged lunatic, and I told him that if he continued, I’d be forced to call the police. And so, he walked away, yelling obscentities and giving me “the look.”
My question is, if your neighbor’s music was “too loud” at 1:00am, would you (1) proceed to pick a fight with them and yell at the top of your lungs? Or (2) would you respectfully ask them to turn their music volume down to a reasonable volume, or off, for that matter?
