Hey Guys,
I just finished developing the latest and greatest version of the new and improved Type 3 Registry web site for Type 3 Volkswagens (such as Squarebacks, Notchbacks, Variants, Fastbacks, Karmann Ghia/T34s, Notchback/Sedans, Squareback/Variants). The purpose of the Registry is to locate and document all of the remaining Type 3 Volkswagens around the world.
The entire site has been rewritten from scratch and given a modern look and feel. Many hours have been put into this site to ensure that it will be up and running in a semi-automated format for a long time coming.
The latest version of the Type 3 Registry features:
For those of you out there in Internet-Land that own a Type 3 Volkswagen, I highly recommend checking out the new site and submitting your Type 3 to the registry… even if you don’t own a Type 3 Volkswagen, it’s worth a look.

Ladies and gentlemen,
There comes a time and place in every “renter’s” life when they encounter that “neighbor from hell” and let me just say that tonight was that night! There I was, sitting and working on a few things on my Mac and listening to my music (311 to be exact) when a *thundering* knock came upon my front-door. My “next-door neighbor” came over in a tirade, yelling, mind you, at the top of his lungs that *my* music was too loud… I sat there for a moment, thinking to myself, what is worse? The person who’s music is too loud, or the person that is yelling at the top of their lungs that the other’s music is too loud?
He proceeded to chastise me, stating that I *always* have my music too loud, and I *blast* my music on Sunday mornings… that may be the case, and on Sundays, I do, in fact, like my Jazz at a reasonable decibel level, but nothing like what he was claiming! I mean seriously!
So, there he stood, in his wife-beater and tattered blue jeans, yelling at me that my music was *too loud* in a totally “out-of-line” manner. Normally, most people would respectfully request that the music volume be minimized, but he was yelling louder than my music ever was… Kind of a paradox, don’t you think? And then to make matters worse, he threatened me, with his fist. Well, at this point I could see that he was, in fact, totally insane, and I saw no point in continuing the conversation with a deranged lunatic, and I told him that if he continued, I’d be forced to call the police. And so, he walked away, yelling obscentities and giving me “the look.”
My question is, if your neighbor’s music was “too loud” at 1:00am, would you (1) proceed to pick a fight with them and yell at the top of your lungs? Or (2) would you respectfully ask them to turn their music volume down to a reasonable volume, or off, for that matter?
Just curious… [Rant over]

The other day one of my friends sent me this video that really changed the way I view the September 11 “terrorist attacks,” and I wanted to share it with all of you…
Kind of makes you a little angry, doesn’t it? Amongst my hundreds of questions about the September 11 attacks, the one that rings the loudest is “Is this the way things really went down?”

In the next few days, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a bill that would fundamentally alter the Internet. That bill, and one that may come up for a vote in the U.S. Senate in the next few weeks, would clear the way for big phone and cable companies to create Internet fast lanes (or “preferred service” tiers), block classes of IP traffic in favor of proprietary offerings, and extort special fees from whomever they choose to target.
“Allowing broadband carriers to control what people see and do online would fundamentally undermine the principles that have made the Internet such a success.”
Given the importance of this issue, I am bringing this to your attention so that you can educate yourself about the issue more fully and, if you so choose, call your Representative in Congress http://www.house.gov/ . It goes without saying that you are free to take any position you like on Net Neutrality.
There are two important organizations’ websites, http://www.itsournet.org/ and http://www.savetheinternet.com/ where people can educate themselves on the Net Neutrality debate and contact their representatives in Congress.
Google also is asking its users to get involved. They’re not alone in taking this unusual step in appealing to users; eBay has taken a similar approach http://news.com.com/2100-1028_3-6079291.html . To further explain this position and the reasons Net Neutrality is a very good thing for users, Eric Schmidt (CEO of Google) published a letter to Google users at http://www.google.com/help/netneutrality.html
Thanks for your time and consideration of this issue.

So this is a little late, but, I felt compelled to speak my mind about the 2005 San Jose Grand Prix sponsored by Taylor Woodrow. Let me just preface this by saying, I’ve been to a lot of races in my day, and this was by far the worst race I’ve ever been to. For one, the course, which ran through the center of Downtown San Jose, was probably the worst location ever chosen for a race circuit. If you saw any of the footage on the race, you probably saw the cars jumping across the Light Rail tracks. I cannot believe that they actually let the race continue after the damage that was inflicted on the cars jumping over the tracks. Thhe chasis of the race cars literally bottomed out, and forced the car to jump into the air. Several of the drivers were injured because of the force of the car hitting the tracks at 170 MPH.
Another thing that I was really unimpressed with was the viewing opportunities of the spectators; or lack thereof. The advertising banners that were posted on the fences of the retaining walls limited the viewing of the spectators, the footbridges weren’t big enough to allow spectators to smoothly move about the course; and the track wasn’t big enough to allow for competetive passing of the racers.
I hope that if they decide to run this Grand Prix next year that they properly plan the crowd control measures, either improve the course circuit or change the location of the circuit entirely, and think more about how they design the visibility of the track. I’m sure that many people feel the same way I do, and I hope that they change a lot of the things that were apparently wrong with the planning of the race.

Have you ever tried to use SuSE Linux? Well, have you??? And do you like it? I thought I liked it… and then figured out that if you’ve got a hot-rodded PC, then you’re in for a serious disappointment! Period… I tried installing SuSE Linux 9.3 on a Clone PC (1.6GHz P4 / 1GB DDR RAM / 60GB ATA / NVIDIA GeForce 6800), and I’ve had nothing but problems… First, I don’t think the NVIDIA drivers are working, well, properly, that is… I get video after the install, but any subsequent boot thereafter goes straight to the Console mode… shitty, I say! Why won’t SuSE support high-end video cards? WTF?
Other than the apparent problems associated with SuSE 9.3 and NVIDIA 6800 cards, the system appears to work great! But dude, I’m seriously unhappy… so I just got OpenBSD 3.7, and I’m raring to try this thing… Hopefully, I’ll be able to report back soon, and let you know what I’ve found. More news soon.

Dude!
Seriously… WTF?
So I just moved, and had to get a storage facility at Public Storage over in the South Bay so I could store all of my shit. SO, we get in there, and we’re paying $150/month for a little 10×10x10 storage room, but there’s this lady, or whatever in the hell you want to call her, and she has made the entire ordeal a serious nightmare… The first night I’m there, when we leave, I’m at a clip of about 15MPH through the parking lot, and she yells at me “Slow down, the speed limit is 5MPH!” Yet, there’s no fricken speed limit signs posted anywhere… Then tonight, it’s 8:55pm, and the place closes at 9:00pm, and she comes to our facility first (even though there are 15 other facilities located throughout the complex, and begins to tell me and my brother “If you don’t leave by 9:00pm, the gates are going to lock, and you’ll be walking home!”
I wanted to tell her “Not on my watch, biatch!” But I just kept my trap shut…. she didn’t need to know that I’m pretty crafty when it comes to electrical systems, and that electronic gates just happen to be REALLY FRICKEN EASY to prop open if you need to get out, and like hell my truck was going to stay inside public storage ALL NIGHT LONG! If I ever have to see her again, it will be way too soon.
